What a year!  We met so many new folks from all over!  We are most grateful for the busy season!

We were concerned if we were even going to have a 2020 season till we got to May. Our cabins were basically fully occupied.  Fortunately, it ended up being our most busy of all!

We are indebted to Jean and Dan, our managers, for their above and beyond care of the resort.  The border closure sure helped fill in any unoccupied dates, and folks taking car vacations and closer to home.  How lucky are we!!  So many new people discovered how great VNP is!! Many of our new guests rebooked for 2021. Our opening up the former manager residence into a rental unit of Cabin #5 was a good decision.  That cabin was well received and rebooked a lot for 2021.  So far, next year will be another banner year.

Please go to our Facebook to see the hundreds of photos of the good times this year, the scenery, and happenings.

July started with the first full week being the 4th!  and what a great start!!  The "bangs" were an awesome display everyone in camp enjoyed (well, maybe not the dogs).  Under Phil's direction and set up, Dan R, manager, assists from David B, Auguste B, Rory T, Jaime M, shot off a ton of great and colorful fireworks!! Thanks for your help fellas!  You rock.  And to Dan for the cleanup the next day.

We had J and D Unplugged band here for entertainment.  The cutest was Anavie B and Ariana H do karaoke and Sam hammed it up, not quite as cute.  A good time had by all.

The week ended up being great weather for water sports and all took advantage of that.  The fishing was slower with the bright, hot days, but catching still went on.  Lots of the catches were in the slot to release, but fun to catch all the same.

There sure was a lot of fish caught in Kabetogama!!  We had very happy folks in camp all month.  Most
people rebooked with us for next year and we are very grateful for that.  The weather was stable most
of the month and no threat to our docks this year for which we are thankful for also.  Please go to the
top of our front page to "More," then click on "Photo Gallery," and click on different weeks to view pictures.
thank you!

May 2015

What a great May we had for having happy folks in our cabins and lots of catching of fish!  Our docks were a big hit, as they always are, for folks fished/caught a lot off of the dock.  The neat thing is, to just sit out on the dock and think of nothing, but watching the water ripple, see a loon, duck, pelican or an otter swim by is such a joy!  We love to see folks relax and enjoy nature as we do.  The opening channel between our east side of the dock and the west side are marked by a red and green light for the entry.  Manager Dan installed solar lights across the dock for light at dark on the dock.  The water level is so good that we can use the inner harbor docks as normal.

Just about everyone has rebooked for next year.  This really makes us feel good.  People notice and comment on the new furniture on some screen porches and living room too.  Our managers Dan and Jean keep the grounds in very good shape.  Thank you for that Dan and Jean! Their break time is fishing and they seem to love that perk.  It does a tired body good!

June coming up appears to be another full resort and people enjoying VNPark, Kabetogama and our very nice cabins!  Thanks for coming!!

We sure had a fun, full camp this opener.  Everyone admired the new docks.  We had solar lights on the docks, electricity all around, water level coming up every day.  This week is going to be chilly, but moisture is welcome. Fishing/catching remains awesome!!  The folks in camp this week are diehards! The weather is a challenge, but fishing good, so we win!!

See pictures of fish caught on the photo gallery.  Past years are there with separate weeks listed and many photos.
See our openings and specials.  Lots has sure changed at PTC over the years, and especially, this past year.  Each cabin has some new porch furniture or living room, along with the outside changes.  Great keeps getting greater!!

The Cabana boys in cabin #3 put up their shelter.  They sure have caught a lot off the dock all week!!

summer summary

We had a slow start tempreture wise, but a very successful summer with rentals, rebookings, pleased folks from the fishing and enjoying PTC and Voyageurs.  Lake Kabetogama sells itself perfectly.  It calms one perfectly.  It relaxes one perfectly.  It bekons one back again and again, perfectly.  We will post pictures as the breakwater docks are rebuilt.  We are very thankful for all the wonderful family and friends we have at the resort, that gave up their week ends and vacation and helped  us out.

A side note;  We just happen to have a change in some folks schedule, and our nice, one bedroom cabin, #4, had a few weeks in a row that opened as a result.  Know anyone who would like to come and settle in for a while??  We have the place to do that!

PTC fun

Throughout May, we posted numerous pictures under "More, Photo Gallery, 2014, then by the week."  We have such wonderful guests that continue to come each year, and others that are new, seem to really like staying here, most rebook, and are generous with pictures for us to prove why - great fishing, beautiful lake and such nice cabins.  Thanks folks!  Fishing was good as soon as the ice went out mid May.  Spring was a slow start to get warm, but when it did, most folks were happy we had Air Conditioning.

We had a bad storm mid June. We had no damage to our cabins, but the docks suffered. (See note in reference on our home page.) We are doing well with tying up boats during the day at temporary docks, and pull them at night.  We are fortunate to have our own boat ramp and a good size parking lot to maneuver. Guests seem morn the loss of the docks that were here too, for everyone had great fun on them.  We will rebuild in winter when work can be done on rock cribs.

Fishing is spectacular!  But it isn't all about fishing.  The beauty of Lake Kabetogama, Voyageurs National Park, nature's beauty, calls you back.  We have some pictures of the Mn. State flower on our photo gallery.  We are lucky they grow so commonly up here, even in road ditches!!

Everyone in camp this second week of fishing season is having great catching.  The Lane brother have had in the 6 lb+ department, hopefully we can get some pictures of the released fish; Tom and Craig are catching a lot too, accumulating nice keepers for fish fry here and take home, released a lot of big ones.  The fellows from Iowa are having a great time in their fishing hours too, The Steves and Mike have had a blast and lots of fish.  The folks that are new to Lake Kabetogama got their wish today, and the weather is less windy and nice a toasty sun.  They have found some nice Northern as they wished for, and cleaning a bunch each evening.  Scott & Jack, from Wi., used to go to Canada often, but find Kab just as good and less hassle!!  All in all, a great week coming up on Memorial Day Week.  Come on up and give it a try!!

Check out our latest addition, a special Totem.
We are thinking of naming it, what is your
recommendation?

What a successful 2014 opener we had.  Guests arrived on Friday, day before opener, to very cold, snow at times, ice almost all across the lake.  Saturday, opening day, at 1:50 in the morning, fishing off the docks paid off.  The sun came out and it felt so good.  By Sunday morning, a boat could get through the ice ok, and our guests did well.  Check out the pictures on our photo galley on "more."
