Check out our latest addition, a special Totem.
We are thinking of naming it, what is your
recommendation?

What a successful 2014 opener we had.  Guests arrived on Friday, day before opener, to very cold, snow at times, ice almost all across the lake.  Saturday, opening day, at 1:50 in the morning, fishing off the docks paid off.  The sun came out and it felt so good.  By Sunday morning, a boat could get through the ice ok, and our guests did well.  Check out the pictures on our photo galley on "more."

August 31 to Sept 7

Sure did cool down, but it is Sept, and then, the latter part of the week was quite warm, so a good variety.  We have some hard core fishing folks from Iowa, mostly from West Union. They seem to know where to get the fish!  Will post a picture of their nice stringer.  They are Ryan, Scott and Brian, all from West Union.  Ryan also caught a 38" Northern/12 lbs. and a 4 1/2 lb. Smallie.  Lots of fish this week!  Carla Maclean from Rochester, Mn. showed up her husband with a nice 23" Walleye.

Other folks in camp are here for the peacefulness of the Park and to soak in some of nature.  The ladies in cabin #3 loved the nature part of Voyaguers Naitonal Park.  They were island hopping to explore and swim; Captain Jeannie took her grandmother, Barb, Jean, Judy, Joan and Edy for a wonderful boat ride and down the Ash River for lunch at one of the resturants there.  A wonderful trip.   The hiking was good exercise and fun, they reported.

We have somewhat of a quieter week this week.  We loved all the families in camp last week, and we have a lovely couple and their darling 3 yr old Faith this week.  One of our cabins has a great, fun loving, dog that loves the water and being on the boat.  There is lots of excitement around the lake with the area wide garage sale and the end of the fishing contest for this season.  The radio station in International Falls will broadcast from the Gateway General Store on Friday, with many prizes, tasty samples, sale items, lunch special and prizes prizes prizes.  Join us next year!  It is fun!

The July 27 to Aug 3 week, on the photo gallery link, has a picture of the Old Chippewa Lodge that burned down in about 1980. That was quite the place!!  There is a picture of the children of Phil and Ellen and Joan;  Left is Mariah, Phil and Ellen's daughter from White Bear; Phill Jr, Phil and Ellen's son from Leadville Co.' a cousin of theirs from California, Jessica, and Kathy from Cloquet, Joan's daughter.  They love it here as we do!

We need to empty the fish bucket two times a day.  Cooled of on Tuesday but warmer weather is on it's way.  The fishing remains great.  Many are catch and release, but fun times catching them.

Our friendly Myrtle the Fertile Turtle who lays her eggs at PTC each year, has lost them all.  This is very sad, as we have watched them return to the water each year she has been here.

We have updated the website and are beginning to "blog".
Let the fish stories be told.  Let the pictures be shared.  Let the fun, random, exciting and unique experiences of our guests, families and friends be shared.

We love having our new caretakers/managers Ken and Deb here.  Folks have commented on how friendly and helpful they are.  They have been doing a Saturday afternoon cookout and cinnamon rolls on Sunday morning.  Thank you Ken and Deb!

We had a slow start mid May with the late ice-out, but that didn't discourage our "Cabanna Boys in the AARP" cabin!
Pete pushed the ice away from the dock so the others could get a line in out about 4'.  Actually caught some fish!  Then on Thursday, Mike L., and Tommy D. from Buhl, and Johnny R. from Hibbing area caught quite a few!  There is a photo in the gallery.

Our second week of the season found the Engbrethe folks catching a lot!  We have pictures on our Face Book of some.  The other folks in camp did well too, and weather held up nicely.  Over the Memorial Day week, the regular folks who
return every year, had a blast with the catching/fish fry/catching, repeat.  Thanks to all of you for returning.

Moving on, we had folks from Iowa and Indiana  here and they faired very well, but the cutest animal story was from Marlene.  She was fishing off the dock and landed a Northern.  She got it on the dock as Mark was in the cabin for a minute.  Up the steps comes an Otter, looking for a free meal!  Marlene shooed it away from her flopping fish because she was afraid of the Otter getting the hook and all the line.  That was a brazen, hungry Otter!  It swam under the dock and got the minnow on the line.

The next few weeks were good fishing and stable weather for the most part.  Cody B. caught a BIG fish and was so
excited!  I told him to hold out his hands as to the size of the fish.  Mom will send a picture she took, but this is all we have
right now.

The weeks after Cody's week, was still good fishing, mid to latter June. See the picture of Margaret with her 26" Walleye and the Miller family with all their pictures.  Mrs Miller, Jen, took most of their pictures, so she wasn't in many of them, but we are looking for one.  Melissa and Adam had successful fishing expeditions also.  The last night they got their limit of Bass, a fun week for all.

There will be several "authors".  Joan Bernick, Deb Mandt, Mariah Hart, Ellen Hart and Phil Hart just to name a few. And if the blogging bug bites any of the others, they just might chime in on occasion too. (Hint, hint, Jeanne, Kathy & Rick) :-)

Come back often to read about whats happening in our little slice of paradise.

Cheers!
